LA Nights Backyard Cinema

Whenever I have an idea for creating something cool in our venues, the first call I make is to Bobbin. They always find a way to make my vision come to life and they never stop ‘til we’re totally happy. They make the whole thing so easy and the shoots are so much fun, letting me be a movie director for the day! Thanks to Bobbin, our venues, website and social channels are filled with sh*t loads of amazing video content including behind-the-scenes features and adverts for upcoming seasons and venues… followers up 250%, click-through rates on our social posts up 38% and 2-minute average session durations on our web pages featuring videos. Bobbin even helped create some of our best ever immersive cinema experiences including a multi-screen space flight simulator to Mars and a beautiful “Story So Far” film that we play at the start of every one of our screenings which has now been seen by over one million audience members and is specifically mentioned in 25% of positive feedback polls!

Champions of immersive, themed cinema experiences, Backyard Cinema, bring their all-singing, all-dancing LA Nights to Capital Studios.

This retro season of experiential cinema complete with 40 tonnes of sand, giant disco balls, palm trees, Slush Puppie cocktails and a musical mash-up set before every screening by star DJ Jaguar Skills. Our brief was to create a dazzling video performance to bring Jaguar Skills’ 6-minute megamix to life whilst establishing the sing-along atmosphere of Backyard’s screenings to sit alongside a live dance-a-long performance. With the tracks ranging from 50s soul classics, through 90s west coast hip hop to the anthemic tunes of some of pop’s biggest idols, our challenge was to reinforce the constantly evolving soundscape whilst maintaining a core graphic style.

Our 6-minute kaleidoscopic creation would go on to be shown to tens of thousands of movie-goers, bringing a taste of LA to a manmade beach in South London.
